DESCRIPTION

"Museo Vivo" (Living Museum) is an educational initiative that approaches creation from the perspective of local territories, drawing on traditional knowledge, crafts, and local modes of production. At the Tumaco Workshop School, the exhibition brings together the outcomes of various training programs in jewelry making, photography, object design, and fashion, offering a collective interpretation of the skills and insights acquired.

The installation is conceived as a lightweight, demountable structure built from wooden trestles, tensioned straps, and textile surfaces. These elements trace a perimeter path and create a continuous skin that organizes the space without fully enclosing it. The façade itself takes on a patterned, textile-like quality, extending this atmosphere outward and housing the hall within a lightweight, porous envelope that is visible from the street.

Display cases, objects, and two-dimensional works are arranged upon this structure, allowing the various pieces to coexist within a shared atmosphere. At the center, a suspended textile network functions as a ceiling, a source of shade, and a symbolic presence. Its form alludes to the Afro-Pacific cultures, to their weaving patterns, crafts, and material memories.

More than a scenographic gesture, the fabric functions as a temporary infrastructure: it accompanies the exhibition, creating a shared spatiality, and upon conclusion, can be reused as material for subsequent fabrication processes.
