DESCRIPTION

The Active Form proposal explored the child’s bedroom as a space open to transformation, where furniture could stimulate new relationships between play, imagination, and everyday life. Through a dialogue between design and pedagogy, the project sought to create a flexible and changing room, capable of being appropriated in multiple ways by both children and adults.

The intervention was organized around a continuous strip of plywood set diagonally across a laminated floor platform. Built from timber offcuts generated through carpentry processes, the piece was developed using semi-industrial systems of repetitive assembly and functioned simultaneously as a roller coaster for toys, a seat, a bed, a train, a dinosaur, a table, or a desk, constantly transforming through use and children’s imagination.

The system was complemented by movable cushions and textile frames, creating a playful and adaptable landscape closer to an infrastructure for play than to a collection of fixed objects. In this way, the project explored flexibility, material transformation, and the collective construction of domestic space.
