Laboratorio creativo Bogohack 2013

Project Details

Bogohack Creative laboratory 2013

DESCRIPTION

The project transforms a section of a colonial house in Bogotá’s historic center into a two-level creative laboratory that brings together spaces for work, production, and experimentation. The intervention begins with the rehabilitation of the existing structure, taking advantage of its spatial qualities to update its uses without altering the heritage character of the building.

On the ground floor, a café open to the public is organized around a double-height courtyard centered on a yarumo tree, which becomes the functional heart of the project. A lightweight canopy connects the different seating areas and extends activities toward the garden, integrating interior and exterior within a continuous experience.

A recovered mezzanine is connected by a large-scale spiral staircase leading to the second floor, conceived as a flexible space for collaborative work, digital fabrication, and creative production. The laboratory is organized through a series of large-format metal shelving units that operate simultaneously as storage, spatial dividers, and filters for natural light.

The route culminates in a second interior courtyard where an installation of suspended trees creates a scenographic and contemplative landscape. The intervention makes it possible to incorporate vegetation without affecting the heritage structures or existing ground conditions, understanding the suspended garden as a small environmental infrastructure that connects nature with improved conditions for gathering.
