Pabellón ARTBO 2015 - Yemail Arquitectura

Project Details

Pavilion ARTBO 2015

DESCRIPTION

The project consists of adapting the overall setting of ARTBO, the Bogotá International Art Fair, through a series of shared programs including a forum, cafés, rest areas, book displays, and information points. ARTBO is characterized as one of the international art fairs whose curatorial approach actively incorporates architectural and design proposals with a certain degree of singularity and experimentation.

For the 2015 edition, we proposed inhabiting the industrial hall through a series of timber pavilions built using a modular platform system. This system consists of prefabricated structures assembled from interlocking timber battens, divided into modules that are lightweight and tectonic enough to generate different typologies while allowing for clean spatial results and reduced installation times.

The structures are made from 4 × 2 cm pine battens arranged in a triangulated system and supported at only a few points, creating an effect of lightness that contrasts with volumes suspended 3.30 meters above the floor and clad in translucent fabric. This translucent skin works both as a diffuser for the lighting and as a neutral surface for graphic communication. The installation system made it possible to build and fabricate more than 860 m² in two weeks through a functional system designed for dismantling and the reuse of 100% of the materials employed.
