DESCRIPTION

I like to think that this device serves to connect two eras. o breathe life into an archive. To act as the touchstone that reveals the stories behind the works. That, however small it may seem, it can sustain an extended narrative timeframe and evoke the place where the events unfolded: becoming a flowing river, creative energy, and landscape all at once.

This museography is experienced through the body. It is an island in the middle of the room, the excuse for freeing up the walls and sparking a choreography of multiple connections between a lifetime of intellectual work and the people who have gathered to celebrate it.

It serves as a showcase of fiction for Arturo Alapé, writer, journalist and painter who spent much of its spirit to immerse himself in a specific moment of Colombia's history in order to narrate it through the exploration of diverse expressive languages.

The archive unfolds without chronological order or biographical narrative. Rather than simply presenting a body of work, the exhibition proposes an active reading of the thought that gave rise to it. In this way, the setup allows for movement between languages and between levels of detail and the big picture, free from fixed hierarchies.

It is an open system organized around a continuous structure that traverses the room like a broken line. It is a macro piece of furniture that does not impose tours or contains contents; proposes a reading fragmentary, close-up, in tension with the scale of the exhibition hall of the National Library of Colombia. The deep blue of the walls, the gesture of a brushstroke expanded in large format and the distribution envelope of the contents reinforce the bet by an atmosphere more sensory than discursive.
