DESCRIPTION

When thinking of national pavilion as a dialogue exercise between territories, beyon mere representation, we recognize the opportunity to deploy, through space, orality and the art, a way to weave together social fabric.

This version of the Colombia pavilion is grounded on the acceptance of the ancestral identities and the re-signification of territories usually deemed marginal. In this regard, the Amazon is acknowledged the as the center of the world and as the source of a different conception of life, which exhibits an intrinsic relationship between human beings and nature, able to tell stories through the dignification of both.

As a project, the pavilion seeks to recover facts and events to convey a popular expression through an artistic approach. We think of this “place” as a way of telling the story through the most significant elements of the Amazonian landscape. The Amazonian philosophy of the body-territory is echoed in architecture’s occasional capacity to signify and evoke what is not present, using the theatricality, light, and emotion to make each visitor feel part of a larger narrative.

Mesh, veils, and images overlap in the reconstruction of a landscape composed of mountains, forests, large trees, and the universal Amazonian archetype of the Maloka. To wrap, and enhance the experience at ground level, a mesh wraps and guides the visitors experience, transporting them to a new context, a common element in the life in the forest that gives support to the fishing, work and rest. The humble nature of the mosquito net resonates within this monumental use, able to draw the silhouette of the three-peak mountain formation evoking Pajarito, Mono, and Mavicure in the department of Guainía. The textile mesh not only contains air, but that, through the effects of light and shadow, it lends symbolic weight to the contents it shelters.

The Condition of Immersion begins in a central welcome plaza where the freestanding pieces from the Vorágine exhibition are arranged, reaffirming what happens when there is a dissonance between the concept of dignity between the body and the territory, paving the way for to themodernizing ontologies of destruction in the name of so-called progress.

The spiritual utopia of then conceive of ourselves as as part of a whole, whose epicenter is the Amazon, is expressed with fervor in the ends of the flag, starting in the corners of the library is clad in a mesh permeable to the look, and that, in turn, contains the stake for teaching reading in a large hammock collective.

On the opposite end, the alternative view of the auditorium is presented as a space to share, where human relations are converted into vital centers through moon orality accompanied with seats in different formats in order to promote interaction and ways of talking.
